Sheriffs file assault charge vs Duterte-Carpio


The Sheriffs Confederation of the Philippines (SCOPHIL) on Monday filed a complaint of direct assault before the Ombudsman against Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio for beating up their colleague, court sheriff Abe Andres. “We will not sit idly by and watch arrogant powers-that-be make a mockery of the courts’ writs and processes," SCOPHIL said in a statement aired on GMA News’ “24 Oras" newscast.

Andres was not with SCOPHIL when the group filed the complaint. SCOPHIL, however, expressed hope that Andres will support them in filing the complaint as promised, according to the newscast. Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Rodrigo Duterte said her daughter, Sara, is ready to face the consequences of her actions, said “24 Oras."
