The Department of Public Works and Highways completed 14 bridge projects in Panay Island in the Eastern Visayas region. The DPWH said the bridges are part of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)-funded Urgent Bridges Construction Project for Rural Development implemented by the DPWH President’s Bridge Program Office. In a news release posted on its website, the DPWH said the completed bridges include: Antique: the construction of nine single-span reinforced concrete deck girder bridges along Anini-y-Tobias Fornier-Hamtic Road in Antique, including:
12.90-linear-meter Igdalaguit Bridge costing P15.863 million 15.90-linear-meter Bayo Bridge costing P24.969 million 12.80-linear-meter Butuan Bridge costing P22.846 million 15.90-linear-meter Siraan Bridge costing P28.908 million 18.90-linear-meter Dapog Bridge costing P21.694 million 25.70-linear-meter Panabigan Bridge costing P24.285 million 20.90-linear-meter Iba Bridge costing P29.507 million 15.80-linear-meter Bongalonan Bridge costing P30.448 million 18.70-linear-meter Dapdap Bridge costing P27.748 million. Iloilo: 150.30-linear-meter Nichols Bridge along Alimodian-Sinamay-Sta. Cruz-San Miguel Road in Iloilo, to replace the old bridge that collapsed at the height of typhoon Frank in June 2008, costing P383.152 million 54.80-lineal-meter Culasi Bridge along Ajuy-Barotac Road (Iloilo) at a cost of P59.560 million replacing the old weakened bridge 12.80-lineal-meter Balua Bridge along Manduriao-San Miguel-Alimodian-Maasin-Cabatuan Road, which was constructed at a cost of P33.710 million Also completed in Antique were the construction of the 10.80-linear-meter Bongol Bridge along Valderama-Bugasong Road costing P19.812 million; and the 15.80-linear-meter Bia-an Bridge along Hamtic-Bia-an-Egaña-Sibalom Road costing P30.871 million.
