Google+ is a man's world, study claims


Men make up some 73.70 percent of the present userbase of Google's upcoming social network Google+, a new website claimed Thursday. The "Find People on Plus" website said that it managed to arrive at the trends after indexing some 947,996 Google+ users as of 7 p.m. Thursday (Manila time). "We've collected A LOT of data. So much so, that we think we have a pretty good picture of what the Google+ userbase looks like," it said. By gender, the site said that 698,703 (73.70 percent) are male while 234,504 (24.74 percent) are female. Some 9,404 (0.99 percent) belonged to "Other" while 5,385 (0.57 percent) left the space "blank," it said. By occupation, engineers were tops at 28,886 (24.56 percent), followed by developers (15,962 or 13.57 percent) and designers (12,669 percent or 10.77 percent); software engineers, writers, web developers, software developers, programmers, photographers and artists. By countries, 150,523 (49.12 percent) are from the United States while 18,021 (5.88 percent) were from India and 14,972 (4.89 percent) were from Sri Lanka. Others in the top 10 countries included Nepal, Paraguay, Belgium, Korea, United Kingdom, Pakistan and Bangladesh. In terms of relationships, 24,438 were single, 19,978 were married, 12,252 were in a relationship, 3,120 were engaged, while 1,665 consider their relationships complicated. About 33,080 were looking for networking, 32,632 for friends, and 8,755 for dating. Facebook, Twitter The site said 148,441 users were on Twitter while 799,555 were not.
