OFWs in Japan urged to join 'Bagong Bayani' awards


Overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) in Japan were encouraged to submit their nominations for this year's "Bagong Bayani Awards" (BBA) before the end of July. In an announcement on its website, the Philippine Embassy in Japan said the period for the submission of nominations has been extended until July 31. The embassy said the nomination form as well as information on who may nominate, category of awards and criteria for the different award categories may be downloaded from the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) website. TheBBA is a national search for the Philippines’ outstanding and exemplary OFWs. The BBA is a major program of the non-stock, non-profit Bagong Bayani Foundation, Inc., where the (POEA) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) are members. President Benigno Aquino III will give out the awards to the winners at Malacañang in December, the embassy said. It added nominations with supporting documents, may be submitted to the Bagong Bayani Foundation, Inc. (BFFI) Secretariat at the ground floor of the Blas F. Ople Building at POEA, Ortigas Ave. cor EDSA, Mandaluyong City.
