Weather: LPA intensifies into tropical depression 'Hanna'
A low-pressure area east of Catanduanes province intensified into a tropical depression, which may bring rains to parts of the country, state weather forecasters said Friday afternoon. In its 5 p.m. bulletin, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) codenamed the tropical depression âHanna." PAGASA said âHanna" was estimated at 850 km east of Virac, Catanduanes, as of 2 p.m., with maximum sustained winds of 55 kph. âHanna" was forecast to move northeast at 24 kph, the weather agency added. âThe whole country will experience partly cloudy to at times cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms," PAGASA said. It said âmoderate to strong" winds blowing from the southwest to west will prevail over Luzon and Eastern Visayas, and the coastal waters along these areas will be âmoderate to rough." Elsewhere, winds will be âlight to moderate" coming from the southwest to west with âslight to moderate" seas, according to PAGASA. â JE, GMA News
