Weather: 'Hanna' exits PHL, to merge with Typhoon Ma-on in next 24 hrs


Tropical depression "Hanna" exited Philippine territory Saturday morning as it continues to move northeast, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said. In its 11 a.m. advisory, PAGASA said Hanna was 1,265 km east-northeast of Virac town in Catanduanes province as of 10 a.m. PAGASA said Hanna packed maximum sustained winds of 55 kph near the center and is moving northeast at 24 kph. By Saturday evening, it is expected to be at 1,130 km east-southeast of Okinawa, Japan and may merge with approaching Typhoon Ma-on. "Within the next 24 hours, Hanna is expected to merge with Typhoon Ma-on," PAGASA said. Earlier, PAGASA forecaster Buddy Javier said Ma-on, may enter Philippine territory Sunday. Should Ma-on enter Philippine territory, it will be codenamed "Ineng." — LBG, GMA News
