Weather: ‘Ineng’ leaves PHL but gale warning remains

Typhoon "Ineng" left Philippine territory Sunday afternoon but parts of Luzon remain vulnerable to strong and gale-force winds. In updates on its Twitter account, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said "Ineng" left at 5 p.m. "As of 5:00 p.m. today (Sunday, 17 JULY 2011), Typhoon ('Ineng') was already outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR)," it said in a 6 p.m. tweet. But it said there is still a gale warning over the seaboards of Northern Luzon and eastern seaboards of Central and Southern Luzon. PAGASA also said thunderstorms and rainshowers may be expected within Agusan del Sur, Agusan del Norte, Davao del Norte and Misamis Oriental areas. The thunderstorms and rainshowers in those areas will light to heavy, it added. Earlier, PAGASA said Mindanao will experience cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms, while the rest of the country will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms. "Moderate to strong winds blowing from the Southwest will prevail over Luzon and Visayas and the coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from the Southwest with slight to moderate seas," it said in its 5 p.m. bulletin. — KBK, GMA News
