PHL Embassy to hold 10th Qur’an Reading Competition Aug 18


The Philippine Embassy in Saudi Arabia will hold the 10th Qur’an Reading Competition at the Philippine Chancery ground on August 18. In an announcement on its website, the Embassy said the competition will focus on memorization of the Qur'an's verses. "All Muslim Filipinos in Riyadh are invited to register their children, who can recite the verses from the Holy Qur’an by memorization to participate in the contest," it said. Those eligible to join are Filipino children who had studied Arabic and/or students from Madrasahs (Arabic Schools) and Philippine International Schools in Riyadh, it added. There are two categories. The first category is for children 10 to 15 years old while the second is for teenagers 16 to 20 years old. Prospective contestants can register by submitting an official registration form to the Administrative Section of the Embassy or fax to (01) 488 3945 or email to filembry@sbm.net.sa or riyadh.pe@dfa.gov.ph. - VVP, GMA News
