CBCP urges prayers for Zambo kidnap victims
Catholic Church officials called for prayers for the safe and immediate release of three kidnap victims in Zamboanga City. Caloocan Bishop Deogracias Iñiguez Jr. said people should boost the government's efforts to ensure the release of the hostages with prayers. âLetâs pray for them and the victims. We hope that this will be resolved soon," said Iñiguez, who chairs the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) public affairs unit. Last week, some 14 armed men abducted Filipino-American Gerfa Yeatts Lunsmann, 50; her son Kevin Eric; and nephew Romnick Jackaria, 19. The kidnappers have demanded $10 million for the hostages' release. Iñiguez joined calls for the safe release of the three hostages, appealing to the kidnappers to heed their conscience. âI donât know if they would still listen to this appeal but, still, we want to appeal to their conscience that they release the innocent victims," he said. - VVP, GMA News
