Security tightened at PNP custodial center for Bedol

Security was tightened at the Philippine National Police (PNP) Custodial Center in Camp Crame for former Maguindanao provincial supervisor Lintang Bedol. The PNP is coordinating closely with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on security arrangements for Bedol, radio dzBB's Benjie Liwanag Jr. reported. Bedol was ordered detained at the PNP Custodial Center in Camp Crame on Tuesday morning after a meeting of the Commission en banc. Comelec chairman Sixto Brillantes Jr. earlier said they also mulled having Brillantes detained at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in Manila. Brillantes said the detention stemmed from the arrest warrant issued against Bedol in 2007 for indirect contempt. Brillantes said Bedol voluntarily surrendered himself to the DILG on Friday but he could not be immediately turned over to the Comelec immediately because of security reasons. - VVP, GMA News
