Immigration to deport German sex offender

A German wanted for sex crimes in his homeland will be deported by the Bureau of Immigration (BI) following his arrest in Cebu. Michael Heeren, 32, has an arrest warrant from the Court of Criminal Procedure in Emden, Germany for 14 cases of sexual assault and molestation. According to prosecutors, Heeren is accused of coercing 14 young women into having sex with him. He allegedly performed lewd acts, including showing pictures of his private parts to victims, in order to lure them. Heeren was vacationing with his eight-year-old daughter in Cebu when he was arrested on July 12, said BI Fugitive Search Unit Head Uso Dan Salasim. Heeren is current detained at the Immigration jail in Taguig City. “We will also ban him from re-entering the Philippines for being an undesirable alien," said Commissioner Ricardo David, adding that “foreign sex perverts should not be given the privilege to stay in the country." Salasim said that Heeren’s daughter has since been turned over to the German embassy in Manila, which will arrange for her trip back to Germany. It was Heeren’s estranged wife who complained to authorities that her ex-husband had taken off with their child to the Philippines. —BC/VS, GMA News
