HK Police training guides leaked online

Hong Kong police are now investigating how their tactical training guidelines were leaked onto the Internet. The incident prompted police to urge people who come across the information to delete it immediately, Radio Television Hong Kong reported Tuesday night. The RTHK report said the documents, which were reportedly uploaded onto a mainland website, cover topics such as how police should use firearms, tactics used in break-ins, street searches and cordon control. It did not immediately specify the websites where the tactical guidelines were seen. However, the report also noted the documents were said to have been uploaded in early March. On the other hand, the report said Steve Vickers, a former chief of the police Intelligence Bureau, said the information appeared to be several years old. Vickers was quoted in the report as saying the release of such information was unlikely to affect police operations. — TJD, GMA News
