Weather: Possible rains on SONA day; 2 potential cyclones tracked

Filipinos in Metro Manila may expect some rains to fall on July 25, when President Benigno Aquino III delivers his second State of the Nation Address (SONA). The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration is also monitoring at least two potential cyclones that may enter Philippine territory. "Yan po ang sabi ng models namin pero puwedeng magbago pa," PAGASA forecaster Joel Jesusa said in an interview on dzBB radio Wednesday, when asked about rains on July 25. On the same day, various groups are expected to troop to the streets to deliver their own version of what they consider "real" state of the nation. In past days, however, Metro Manila residents have endured hot weather although weather forecasters had indicated at possible rains and thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Potential cyclones Meanwhile, Jesusa said they are monitoring at least two potential cyclones, which he said are still "far" from Philippine territory. Should any one of them enter Philippine territory and become a cyclone, it will be codenamed "Juaning." PAGASA's 5 a.m. bulletin said a monsoon trough is affecting Eastern Mindanao and may bring scattered rain showers and thunderstorms. "Mindanao will experience mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorm. The rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms mostly in the afternoon or evening," it said. — LBG, GMA News
