Security beefed up at PHL Heart Center for Ampatuan checkup

Security was beefed up at the Philippine Heart Center in Quezon City in time for the visit there of suspended Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Governor Zaldy Ampatuan. An advance team from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) conducted an inspection of the PHC before noon, radio dzBB's Allan Gatus reported. The Quezon City Police District also deployed teams to the area to beef up security at the hospital and its surrounding areas, the report added. BJMP head Director Rosendo Dial said they do not expect Ampatuan to stay at the hospital overnight. "Checkup lang nakalagay sa court order. Hindi magdamag. Once matapos ang checkup ibabalik siya sa detention facility sa Bicutan," he said in an interview on dzBB radio. Earlier, Dial also said Ampatuan will not have a bulletproof vest en route to the Philippine Heart Center. The Quezon City court allowed Zaldy to have a medical checkup at the Philippine Heart Center after a private hospital refused to take him in due to security concerns. — LBG, GMA News
