Aquino's uncle Pedro Cojuangco dies of cardiac arrest

Don Pedro Cojuangco, President Benigno Aquino III’s uncle and his mother Cory's eldest sibling, passed away Wednesday morning. In a text message to reporters, presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda said Cojuangco died of cardio-respiratory arrest secondary to multiple organ failure at the Makati Medical Center. Cojuangco was considered the patriarch of the family of the late President Corazon Aquino. He was the chairman of the board and president of Central Azucarera de Tarlac, Inc., and also the former president and chief operating officer of First United Bank (now the United Coconut Planters Bank). Lacierda said the wake will be at the Cojuangco residence in Forbes Park, and the burial will be on Tuesday at the Manila Memorial Park. — Amita O. Legaspi/KBK/HS, GMA News
