PHL Embassy resumes outreach missions in US


The Philippine Consulate General in New York resumed its outreach consular services, holding its latest mission in Maine. The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said the outreach activity in Portland, Maine on June 16 was the Consulate's first outreach program for summer. In a news release, the DFA said the July 16 outreach was conducted at the Day Inn Hotel, with the help of the Filipino-American community in Portland led by Teresita Cardona. The nine-member consular team led by Consul Elena Maningat handled 60 transactions. Other members of the team included Administrative Officer Merle Puruganan, Finance Officer Celesty Cornejo, Victoria Saldivar, Chester Tajonera, Ric Miranda, Josel Mecua, Rissa Ressurreccion and Magnolia Barbin. More outreach activities scheduled Meanwhile, the Consulate scheduled several consular outreach activities in the coming months, including:

  • Ocean City, New Jersey on July 23
  • Newark, Delaware on September 17
  • Manchester, New Hampshire on September 24
  • Somerset, New Jersey on October 1
  • Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 22. The consulate had a hiatus last June to prepare for activities to mark the 113th Independence Day and the 150th birth anniversary of national hero Dr. Jose Rizal. Before the one-month hiatus in June, the consulate held an outreach in Connecticut, completing 48 transactions last May. Leading that team was Deputy Consul General Melita Sta.
