11 Pinoys in Vietnam arrested for swindling

A total of 11 Filipinos were arrested for operating a gambling modus operandi where they cheat and take their victims' money, according to a report on news site Vietnamnet Bridge.

The first three suspects were caught in Thu Duc District. The eight other suspects were eventually nabbed in the same area.

Vietnamnet Bridge only identified three suspects: Cesar Devilla, Dinido Macachor, and Gemma D. Frend.

The report said a 19-year-old Canadian was among the victims of the cheating incident.

Their modus operandi began with meeting foreigners "in the downtown area, [and then] invited them to their rented houses for dinner, lured them into gambling, and cheated victims out of their money," the report said. — OFW Journalism Consortium
