Weather: Isolated rain showers likely in Metro Manila on SONA day

Isolated rain showers and thunderstorms loom over Metro Manila on Monday, when President Benigno Aquino III delivers his second State of the Nation Address (SONA). The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) indicated this Sunday in its extended weather forecast from July 24 to 28. PAGASA indicated Metro Manila will have “partly cloudy to at times cloudy with isolated rain showers and thunderstorms." The temperature range for the day will be from 24 to 34 degrees Celsius, it added. Aquino is to deliver his SONA before a joint session of Congress Monday afternoon. While he does so, many groups, both pro- and anti-administration groups, are to hold rallies near the Batasan Complex where the SONA will be delivered. Other cities in the country, including Tuguegarao, Laoag, Baguio and Olongapo, will also have relatively good weather with partly cloudy skies and isolated rain showers and thunderstorms. But mostly cloudy skies are expected Monday over other cities such as Tagaytay, Legazpi, Puerto Princesa, Iloilo, Bacolod, Metro Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, Metro Davao, and Zamboanga. Tacloban City will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers on Monday, PAGASA indicated. Meanwhile, PAGASA’s extended forecast also indicated mostly cloudy with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Metro Manila Tuesday through Thursday. — LBG, GMA News
