Another Maguindanao massacre suspect nabbed


Another suspect in the November 2009 massacre in Maguindanao province is now in hands of authorities following his arrest over the weekend. Samsudin Rajahpandalat Kamilon was apprehended on Saturday morning by police and military personnel at the public market of Datu Odin Sinsuat town in Maguindanao province, a military report said Sunday. Kamilon was among the almost 200 suspects in the grisly killing of 57 people, including 32 journalists, in Ampatuan town in Maguindanao on Nov. 23, 2009. The alleged perpetrators included members of the powerful Ampatuan clan. The report said Kamilon was arrested by virtue of warrant of arrest for 56 counts of murder issued by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 221, which is now hearing the case. Kamilon is now under custody of the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM). Authorities are still looking for almost 100 more Maguindanao massacre suspects who are still at large. The Maguindanao massacre is considered as one of the worst cases of political violence in the country. - KBK, GMA News
