Senate opens 2nd session of 15th Congress

With 21 senators present, the Senate on Monday morning opened its second regular session for the 15th Congress. During Monday's Senate session, Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile presided over the approval Senate Resolutions 535 and 536 informing the House of Representatives and President Benigno Aquino III that the Senate was ready to resume its functions as a legislative body. The Senate likewise adopted concurrent resolution no. 30, approving the conduct of a joint session with the House of Representatives later in the day at 4:00 pm to hear Aquino's State of the Nation Address (SONA). Aside from Enrile, among the senators present during the opening of the session are: Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada, Senate Majority Floor Leader Vicente Sotto III, Senate Minority Floor Leader Alan Peter Cayetano, Franklin Drilon, Francis Escudero, Teofisto Guingona III, Panfilo Lacson, Lito Lapid, Francis Pangilinan, Ralph Recto, Manuel Villar, Loren Legarda, Bongbong Marcos, Antonio Trillanes IV, Juan Miguel Zubiri, Sergio Osmena III, Joker Arroyo, Bong Revilla Jr., Edgardo Angara, and Gregorio Honasan. - VVP, GMA News
