Three senators to skip Aquino's SONA

At least three senators will not be attending President Benigno Aquino III's State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Monday afternoon. Among the senators who will not be attending the SONA are Senators Joker Arroyo, Juan Miguel Zubiri, and Manuel Villar. In an ambush interview with reporters on Monday, Arroyo said he won't be attending Aquino's SONA because he was tired of leaders repeatedly making promises. "Sayang ang panahon diyan," he said. Arroyo also advised Aquino to refrain from taking potshots at the previous administration. "We need to unite. We can't continue fighting each other," Arroyo said. Arroyo said the last time he attended a SONA was in 1993. On the other hand, a staff of Villar said the senator, who also did not attend last year's SONA, won't be around again because he just wants to watch the President's speech on television. Zubiri's staff likewise said they have yet to receive advise whether the senator will be attending the SONA but added that he most probably won't. The Senate suspended its session until 4 p.m. Monday for a joint session with the House of Representatives for the President's SONA. - GMA News
