MMDA: Rain from 'Juaning' causes floods in Manila, Valenzuela

Heavy rain from Tropical Storm Juaning caused floods in some parts of Metro Manila Tuesday morning, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said. MMDA's Eddie Garcia noted floods in the Marulas area in Valenzuela City; and along parts of Rizal Avenue in downtown Manila. "Motorists driving light vehicles should cross the flooded streets carefully," Garcia said in an interview on dzBB radio. He particularly referred to flooded areas near R. Papa and Rizal Avenue in Manila. Garcia said floods similarly affected traffic along the McArthur Highway and Marulas in Valenzuela City. "May ibang area na guttter-deep (Floods were gutter-deep in some areas)," he said but did not immediately elaborate. He said the MMDA's pumping stations were automatically activated so the floodwaters would subside. — RSJ, GMA News
