DFA: Malaysian police investigating death of Pinay maid

Malaysian authorities are conducting further investigation on the death of the Filipina maid who was found lifeless inside her employer’s house in Kuala Lumpur last July 23, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said Tuesday. The DFA quoted the Philippine Embassy in Kuala Lumpur as saying the Petaling Jaya police will reveal the post-mortem report and death certificate of the 35-year-old Filipina by next week. Citing police reports, the DFA said the maid’s employer, who came from a dinner concert, immediately called the emergency medical team after seeing the domestic helper’s dead body. The maid, who had worked as a household service worker for her employer’s family for nine years, had injury marks around her neck, said the investigation officer in charge of the case at the Petaling Jaya police office. This led the police to conclude that she was strangled, the DFA said. The DFA said the employer reported that a laptop computer and an Apple iPad were missing from their residence. “No signs of forcible break in [were] found and the police said that the Filipina might have known the killer," it added. The employer, who was unidentified, said that the Filipina was “reliable and trustworthy." Embassy officials already apprised the Filipina’s family about the incident. The Filipina maid is survived by her husband and two children. — JE, GMA News
