Opposition’s ‘counter-SONA’ deferred due to bad weather

The opposition’s answer to President Benigno Aquino III’s State of the Nation Address (SONA) — or the counter-SONA — did not push through on Tuesday after the House of Representatives suspended its session due to bad weather. Ilocos Norte Rep. Rodolfo Farinas moved to adjourn session at 4:20 p.m., citing inclement weather brought by Tropical Storm Juaning. His motion was immediately approved. The Senate also suspended work for the day at 3 p.m. to send its personnel home early and avoid floods brought by the heavy rain. House Minority Floor Leader Edcel Lagman was supposed to deliver his counter-SONA on Tuesday afternoon as the opposition’s reply to Aquino’s speech on Monday. President Aquino delivered his SONA before a joint session of Congress, where he focused on accomplishments of his one-year-old administration. - Andreo C. Calonzo/KBK, GMA News
