Aquino declares August 2 as non-working holiday in Butuan

BUTUAN CITY- President Benigno Simeon Aquino III has declared August 2 as a special non-working holiday in Butuan City for the celebration of its Charter Day. There will be no classes at all levels, in both public and private schools in the city on that day. All government offices in the city will also be closed. Butuan City Mayor Dr. Ferdinand Amante Jr. said the holiday was specified under Presidential Proclamation No. 197. August 2 marks the creation of Butuan as a chartered city. The city will mark its 61st founding day since Butuan was created a city on August 2, 1950. - VVP, GMA News
