Pinoys in Canada want consulate in Manitoba

Filipinos in Canada are frustrated at the long lines at the Philippine consulate in Toronto just to get their travel documents processed, according to a report on Pilipino Express. Filipinos there think that the Philippine government must put up a consulate in Manitoba, in central Canada, the report said. Over 200 frustrated Filipinos complained to Filipino media men over the long hours of waiting to process their consular documents and over changing instructions by consulate personnel. For his part, Toronto Consul-General Pedro Chan was quoted by Pilipino Express as saying that he would “personally talk to DFA [Department of Foreign Affairs] in Manila" about the matter of having a consulate in Manitoba. — OFW Journalism Consortium
