PHL nuns helping wards at Mexico Girls' Town

Two Filipino nuns are helping the wards at a Girls Town in Mexico, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said. "The two Filipina nuns working in the Girls town are Sister Mary Jane, who is handling the kindergarten section, and Sister Emma, who is in charge of the administration," the DFA said in a news release. The DFA said the institution has corresponding institutions in the Philippines that are "very cooperative with the requests for assistance of the Embassy." Graduation ceremony On July 12, Philippine chargé d´affaires Lilybeth Deapera and Cultural Officer Amelyn Julio-Obong participated in the awarding of medals during the graduation ceremony of more than 800 students at the Girls Town in Chalco, Mexico. During the ceremony, the Estudiantina choir of the Girls Town rendered a medley of songs from Mexico, Korea, Brazil, Guatemala and the Philippines, where Sisters of Mary are present. One of the songs in the serenade was a Filipino song taught to them by Sister Emma, the DFA said. The girls also performed typical Mexican and modern dances. The food served during the reception was prepared by the professors and students of culinary arts. - VVP, GMA News
