Pinoy group in Kuwait promotes martial arts for safety


A Philippine group in Kuwait is promoting martial arts as a means for attaining safety and wellness, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said. The DFA said the Tapondo International Federation Inc. Kuwait Chapter is promoting camaraderie and physical wellness to Filipinos through martial arts. The organization accepts members of all ages. Its youngest member is aged 10 while its oldest member is aged 58. Embassy officials led by Assistance-to-Nationals Head Dalidig Tanandato took part in the second anniversary of organization. "(Tanandato) commended the organization for promoting camaraderie between Filipinos here in Kuwait. He also expressed his appreciation for the formation of the Philippine Tai Chi Corps and hoped that more people join the organization since it develops the wholeness of a person," the DFA said in a news release. At the event, Tapondo-Kuwait Chapter Chief Bennyl Ramos said Tai Chi promotes not only physical wellness but also spiritual and mental wellness, the DFA said. "Mr. Ramos also mentioned the recent formation of the Philippine Tai Chi Corps, whose members are Embassy officers and personnel," the DFA said.
