Palace exposes fake CHED Twitter account

Palace officials, through the official Twitter account of the Office of the President, @govph, revealed Wednesday that the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) has no Twitter presence. “We have verified with CHED, the commission has no Twitter account," @govph tweeted at 9:07 p.m. Wednesday. The Palace Twitter account also said, "The accounts posing as CHED are not official." The @govph message has been retweeted at least 100 times. GMA News retweeted the message at 10:01 p.m. A search by GMA News Online showed that there is only one CHED account on the social networking hub. Three minutes after @govph tweeted about the non-existent CHED account, another Twitter user, @innigirl0721, responded with a suggestion. She said, “@govph CHED should make a twitter account for us college students." That idea got a second from @rachenez who said, “@govph Well they should start having one. Twitter can be a helpful medium to disseminate information." Malacanang checked with CHED after it came to their attention that tweets about the suspension of college-level classes were coming from @OfficialCHEDph As of late Wednesday evening, @OfficialCHEDph had 1,971 followers. This account has sent out only five tweets. – Earl Victor Rosero, GMA News
