2 cops killed in Ifugao landslide - OCD exec

At least two policemen were buried alive in a landslide while trying to help move a vehicle stuck in mud in Ifugao province late Wednesday. Office of Civil Defense Cordillera (OCD) director Olive Luces said Thursday the incident occurred at Nailagan village in Aguinaldo town in Ifugao. "Kahapon light to moderate lang ang ulan. May sasakyan ng DENR [Department of Environment and Natural Resources] na nabalahaw sa putik sa Barangay Nailagan. Tumulong ang dalawang pulis, suddenly nagka-landslide," Luces said in an interview on dzBB radio. Citing initial reports, she identified the two policemen as SPO2 Jeff Domingo and SPO2 Ricky Agwit. She said both were buried alive, adding retrieval operations were halted Wednesday night due to the threat of more landslides in the area. She said the OCD expects to resume the retrieval operations Thursday morning. "Ngayong umaga [sana] light lang ang rain showers para matuloy ang retrieval operations," she said. — LBG, GMA News
