'Juaning' exits PHL but will continue enhancing monsoon


After causing at least 31 deaths, Tropical Storm Juaning (Nock-Ten) exited Philippine territory before noon Thursday, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said. But PAGASA, in its 11 a.m. advisory, said Juaning will continue to enhance the southwest monsoon and bring rains to parts of the country. "This disturbance will continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon and bring rains over the western sections of Luzon and Visayas," it said. Earlier, PAGASA said Juaning was expected to exit Philippine territory between 8 and 10 a.m. As of 10 a.m., Juaning was estimated at 370 km west northwest of Laoag City packing maximum winds of 95 kph near the center and gustiness of up to 120 kph. It was monitored to be moving west northwest at 24 kph and is expected to be 560 km west northwest of Laoag City or 310 km south southeast of Hong Kong Thursday evening. By Friday morning, it is expected to be 270 km southwest of Hong Kong. All public storm warning signals have since been lifted, PAGASA said. Rain over NCR, other areas PAGASA said the rain in several parts of Metro Manila Thursday morning was due to the southwest monsoon. In several messages on its Twitter account, PAGASA noted rain falling on several parts of Metro Manila and nearby provinces like Bulacan and Rizal. "[Because] of [the] habagat, nakakaranas ng pag-ulan sa Metro Manila (Because of the southwest monsoon we are experiencing rains in Metro Manila)," it said. PAGASA also noted rains in Bulacan, Batangas, Cavite, Zambales, Bataan, and Rizal:
