PAGASA installs 2 weather stations in Negros Occidental


The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) installed automated weather stations (AWS) will be installed in two areas in Negros Occidental. The stations were installed in Brgy. Hilamonan Kabankalan City, and at Brgy. 5 in Sipalay City Wednesday, the news site Visayan Daily Star reported. Department of Science and Technology (DOST) provincial head Allan Francis Dara-ug said they will install two more in Sagay and San Carlos Cities Thursday, the report said. Presently, there are five AWS facilities in the province. DOST science research specialist Glady Tomulto said the AWS will record atmospheric pressure, wind direction, temperature, relative humidity, rainfall, and other weather situations. Tomulto said the data they collect will automatically be transmitted to the PAGASA website. - VVP, GMA News
