NDRRMC: 'Juaning' death toll now 50; governor's mom listed as fatality
(Updated 9 a.m.) The death toll from tropical storm “Juaning" (Nock-Ten) rose to 50 as of early Saturday, with the late mother of Albay Gov. Jose Salceda officially listed as a fatality. In its 8 a.m. Saturday update, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) also said the damage to property had risen to P1.466 billion. According to the NDRRMC, Mrs. Cielo Adelina Sarte-Salceda, 89, was listed among the latest fatalities as of Friday night. Her cause of death was listed as a “fall." Other recent fatalities in the NDRRMC’s list included:
- Edwin Lostrillo, 30, Bato, Camarines Sur (drowning)
- Ryan Sarlo Igle, 17, Polangui, Albay (drowning)
- Gregorio Romaroag, 91, Libon, Albay (cardiac arrest)
- Carlito Sigalot, 14, Libon, Albay (drowning)
- Jemel Dangcalan, 14, Buluang Bato, Camarines Sur
- Joaquin Quadro, 76, Bula, Camarines Sur
- Boy Gajo, Irosin, Sorsogon
