Hackers hit US Dept of Homeland Security

The US Department of Homeland Security, the agency set up to combat terrorism, suffered from a “leak" where its emails were posted online by hacktivist group Anonymous. But Anonymous insisted it obtained the files “legally," hinting it did not have to hack into the DHS’ systems and that the leak may have stemmed from a developer flaw. “A Wild Leak Has Appeared! : wp.me/p1JyTn-f #AntiSec #AnonOps #Leak #LulzSec #Anonymous wp.me/p1JyTn-f," it said. The link in the Twitter message led to a blog post that offered a link to download the files. “You Asked – And You Shall Recieve #DHS Emails – *all emails and files were obtained legally," said the message in the blog. A separate article on The Hacker News said the leaked emails were contained in an 8.04-MB PDF file. It quoted an Anonymous member who said the PDF was available on the DHS site. — TJD, GMA News
