NDRRMC: 908 evacuated from Bulacan due to 'Kabayan'


At least 192 families or 908 people were evacuated from their homes after floods brought by tropical storm “Kabayan" (international code name: Muifa) hit several areas in Bulacan province. In its 1 p.m. report, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said the floods affected seven villages in three towns and one city. These were:

  • San Jose del Monte City (38 families or 144 people),
  • Sta. Maria town (45 families or 224 people),
  • Bocaue town (105 families or 520 people), and
  • Paombong town (four families or 20 people).
Search operations are also going on for two of eight fish pond workers whose motorized banca capsized between Hagonoy and Pampanga Delta last Thursday. As of 6 a.m. Saturday, the NDRRMC said the floodwaters in some areas ranged from one to three feet high, including:
  • Meycauayan City (up to 3 feet in Bayugo village),
  • Marilao (up to 2 feet in Tabing-Ilog, Abangan Sur, Poblacion I and II, and Nagbalon villages),
  • Bocaue (up to 2 feet in Poblacion), and
  • Sta. Maria (up to 3 feet in Tumana village).
Meanwhile, a tornado ravaged San Jose village in Paombong town in Bulacan Friday afternoon, damaging four houses, according to the NDRRMC. — JE, GMA News
