PNoy may mark Cory's death anniversary in private

President Benigno Aquino III may privately mark the second death anniversary of his mother former President Corazon Aquino on Monday, Malacañang hinted Saturday. “I am sure he will spend part of the day with family and in private to mark the death anniversary of his mom," deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said on government-run dzRB radio. So far, the Palace has no formal advisory of Aquino’s plan to mark the occasion on Aug. 1, Monday. Mrs. Aquino, who was dubbed the icon of democracy for her role in the EDSA-1 People Power revolt that toppled Ferdinand Marcos in 1986, died Aug. 1, 2009 after a battle with colon cancer. Her death triggered a clamor for the younger Aquino, then a senator, to run in the 2010 presidential race. — JE, GMA News
