Scout Ranger injured in Agusan landmine blast

The Philippine Army said one Scout Ranger was wounded in action when a landmine explosion hit a troop personnel truck in Agusan del Sur province Saturday mid-afternoon. Army officials suspect communist guerrillas, allegedly with the Northeast Mindanao Regional Committee, planted the landmines that stopped the military vehicle. The truck was passing through Barangay Langkilaan in the town of Trento when it drove over the landmines at 3:15 p.m., according to the bulletin the Army sent via text message. Aboard the bus were personnel of the Scout Rangers Second Battalion of the First Scout Regiment station in the Caraga region. An improvised explosive device was found at the blast site during clearing operations. — ELR, GMA News
