Report: 3 broadcaster's kin killed in Negros Occ.

Three relatives of a broadcaster were killed when a gunman entered their house and opened fire on them in Sagay City in Negros Occidental Friday noon. Police are now looking for suspected gunman Romeo Corbo, a driver of the Sagay City government, news site Visayan Daily Star report said. Killed were Elsa Gasper Javellana, 67; her husband Ranulfo, 71; and their daughter Gina Javellana-Zaragoza, 48, at their house in Elija Subdivision, Sitio Albina, Barangay Poblacion 1, Sagay City. Elsa is the aunt of local broadcaster Ferdinand "Bambi" Yngson. Injured in Friday's attack was Joseph Javellana, 35, son of Elsa and Ranulfo. He was shot by Corbo in the stomach but was able to escape. Joseph identified Corbo as their assailant. Corbo was also the suspect in the shooting of Yngson in 2007, Sagay police chief Senior Inspector Gabriel Gutierrez said. Gutierrez added Corbo faces attempted murder charges for shooting Ferdinand Yngson four years ago. An initial investigation showed Corbo entered the Javellana house with a cal-.45 pistol and opened fire on the victims. He reportedly emptied one magazine and loaded it with another, said Yngson, who was a former employee of dyAF. Corbo also shot at Tyra, the seven-year-old granddaughter of Javellana but missed, Yngson added. Gutierrez said the motive for the killing could be old grudges. The Javellana couple had lodged a complaint against Corbo at the Sagay City Hall for operating a videoke bar in their subdivision, amid complaints of the noise it was causing, Gutierrez said. Corbo's business permit was reportedly canceled, Gutierrez added. 2007 shooting On July 25, 2007, Corbo shot broadcaster Yngson in the left arm, the back and chest at the Sagay public market. Charges for attempted murder were filed against Corbo, but the trial of the case is still ongoing, Yngson said. Yngson said Corbo, formerly a Land Transportation Office deputized agent in Cadiz City, was mad at him because he exposed extortion activities at the LTO over the radio. Earlier this year, Corbo set up a videoke bar at Elija Subdivision owned by the Javellana couple. According to Yngson, the Javellanas asked Corbo to leave place when they realized that he was the one who shot him [Yngson] and also because Corbo's videoke bar was noisy. — LBG, GMA News
