Pinoy Muslims hold predawn prayers as Ramadan starts

The rainy weather did not stop Filipino Muslims from going to mosques to attend predawn prayers as the holy month of Ramadan started Monday. In Taguig City, the Muslim faithful held predawn prayers at the Blue Mosque to start the holy month, according to a report by radio dzBB’s Sam Nielsen. Almost immediately after the prayers, local imams began preparations for the noon prayers, the report said.

Muslims in Manila similarly crowded the Golden Mosque in the Quiapo district for the early morning prayers, according to a separate dzBB report. Several streamers related to Ramadan were placed near the Golden Mosque, the report added. The report noted workers had prepared the mosques in past weeks to accommodate Muslims seeking forgiveness through prayer and fasting during Ramadan. — RSJ, GMA News
