'Superstar' Nora Aunor back in PHL, mobbed at airport

After spending several years abroad, actress-singer Nora Aunor received a welcome fit for a superstar as she returned home before dawn Tuesday. The actress arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 2 past 4:30 a.m., radio dzBB's Roland Bola reported. She was promptly mobbed by starstruck airport employees and fans waiting inside the airport, even as more fans waited for hours for her outside the NAIA-2. "Narito na po ako ... Masayang masaya ako nakarating ako rito. Miss na miss ko sila. Humihingi ako paumanhin sa fans na di ako nakarating agad, maraming salamat po (I am here. I am very happy to be home. I miss my fans very much. I apologize to them for not coming home earlier. Thank you very much)," Aunor said in an interview on dzBB shortly after arriving from the United States.

A separate report on dwIZ radio said many of Aunor's fans brought flowers and food as "pasalubong" (welcoming gifts) for her. She had arrived aboard a Philippine Airlines PR-103 flight from Los Angeles, dwIZ reported. The dzBB report said many of Aunor's fans, including senior citizens, patiently waited for her outside the airport as early as 1 a.m. Welcoming her at the airport were German Moreno and Laguna Governor Ramon Emilio Ejercito III. Aunor wore a blue jacket, a gray blouse and denim pants. She was promptly mobbed by employees who asked for photo opportunities, and "Noranians" who screamed upon her arrival. Aunor, born Nora Cabaltera Villamayor on May 21, 1953, is a multi-awarded Filipino actress, singer and producer. — RSJ, GMA News
