2012 budget bats for P7-B housing allotment — Rep. Ty


Housing agencies asked Congress to increase their allocations by 23 percent to P7 billion in the proposed P1.8 trillion 2012 budget, according to LPG/MA partylist Representative Arnel Ty. A member of the House committee on housing and urban development, Ty said in a statement that the increase of P1.3 billion is intended for additional resettlement projects in sites civil society groups have identified. Ty said that the National Housing Authority will “resettle families displaced by critical new public infrastructure projects and to provide tenure to families living in government-owned lands proclaimed as socialized housing sites." The LPG/MA solon also said the National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation (NHMFC) intends to spend P500 million for the Community Mortgage Program next year. “The NHMFC hopes to increase the number of beneficiaries to 25,000 next year versus this year’s 20,000," Ty disclosed. Programmed in the proposed 2012 national budget is a 13-percent increase in the number of new housing units to be given risk coverage. Ty said the Home Guaranty Corp. programmed the provision of risk coverage to 57,065 new homes. — ELR/VS, GMA News
