1 hurt, 300 families lose homes to QC fire

An elderly woman was reported injured, while at least 300 families lost their homes in a fire that hit a residential area in Quezon City Wednesday. The fire was believed caused by a kerosene lamp left unattended at the house of a resident whose electricity was cut off, radio dzBB's Roland Bola reported.
Some 100 houses were razed in Escopa I village in Project 4 in Quezon City. An initial investigation showed the fire started at 2:15 a.m. and reached the fifth alarm before firefighters placed it under control and put it out past 4 a.m. Some residents were mad at firefighters for arriving an hour after the fire broke out, and for of not bringing enough water. But the firefighters denied this and claimed they could not get to the area immediately because the streets were too narrow. Arson investigators are verifying claims that the fire started at the house of one Edmund Dulay, who was using a kerosene lamp because his power supply was cut off four months ago. — LBG, GMA News
