Cavite's Rosario town mayor suspends classes

Classes in all levels were suspended in Rosario town in Cavite province Wednesday due to heavy rain, Mayor Jose Ricafrente Jr. said. Ricafrente said he declared the suspension of classes from day care to college in public and private schools effective 6 a.m. "Ang lakas ng buhos ng ulan dito, malakas ang buhos ng ulan, unusual ito. As of 6 a.m. idineklara natin na walang klase sa day care hanggang college," he said in an interview on dzBB radio. He said this applies to public and private schools. The Department of Education earlier said classes in the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) region were to resume Wednesday. But Ricafrente said he would not risk the safety of students. "Mabuti na rin declare natin walang klase (It would be better if we declared a suspension of classes)," he said. — LBG, GMA News
