Google Chrome 13 now available, delivers instant pages

Search giant Google has upgraded its Chrome browser to version 13, with the “Instant Pages" feature that displays Google search results more quickly. The new stable version, available for Windows, Mac and Linux, also has a print preview feature for Windows and Linux users, tech site CNET reported. CNET said the Instant Pages feature stems from Google’s pre-rendering technology that fetches data from a site even before a user finishes typing the Web address. It also has more than 5,200 improvements and bug fixes, along with 13 security fixes marked as “high" priority – including a cross-origin script injection and cross-origin violation in base URI handling that netted $1,500 awards for researchers who discovered them. On the other hand, CNET noted the print preview feature – powered by the built-in PDF reader - is not yet available for the Mac version. Another feature is the improvements to the Omnibox location bar, which makes the user’s history more easily searchable. Meanwhile, Chrome dev is still on version 14, even as Chrome OS is now on version 13 beta. — RSJ, GMA News
