'Enteng' comic book to teach kids about charity
Through the comic book "Enteng," Catholic priests hope to teach children about the virtue of charity and the life of Saint Vincent, the patron saint of all charitable works and institutions. âWe bring, for the first time, to the Filipino masses, especially the youth, the inspiring stories about St. Vincent de Paul, the icon of charity, in the language everyone understands," Fr. Frank Vargas, president of St. Vincent de Paul Foundation (SVPF), said in an article on the Catholic Bishopsâ Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) news site. âIt is an exciting read for anyone of all ages as it contains 34 colorful pages about the stories of four young people who were inspired to take up the Vincentian mission of evangelizing the poor," Vargas said. The author of the comic book is Renato Vibiesca, an award-winning storywriter for several publications, including the popular Gospel Comics Philippines. The illustrator is Almar Denso, also a known cartoonist of GASI Comics fleet. The 34-page comic book, produced by SVPF, earned the nod of the Adamson Universityâs Textbook Committee as a complementary reading material for all high school and college students. Proceeds from the comic bookâs sales will go to the formation of deserving seminarians in three Vincentian seminaries in the country â De Paul House Seminary and St. Vincent Seminary in Quezon City, and Vincentian Novitiate House in Trece Martires, Cavite. â JE/VVP, GMA News
