DepEd: Classes resume in NCR; no threat of heavy rain

It’s for sure this time: there is little threat of heavy rain in Metro Manila, the Department of Education said, adding that regular classes at all levels resumed Thursday morning. DepEd Metro Manila assistant regional director Rizalino Rosales said they had consulted with the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) about the weather. “Nais namin ipaalam na base sa aming pakikipagugnayan sa PAGASA at base sa report ng 16 school division sa NCR [National Capital Region], meron nang pasok ngayong araw August 4, sa preschool, elementary at high school levels in all public and private schools," he said in a 4 a.m. interview on dzBB radio. He also said there are no more reports of floods in areas around Metro Manila schools. Meanwhile, PAGASA forecaster Gener Quitlong said weather conditions are improving in Metro Manila, with the weather expected to get warmer. "Dito sa NCR, maganda na ang panahon natin, partly cloudy na lamang ang nakikita natin," PAGASA forecaster Gener Quitlong said in an interview on dzBB radio. "Expect the weather to be warm. We can now dry our clothes outside," he added. On Tuesday, the DepEd canceled classes due to threat of heavy rain forecast by PAGASA. It announced classes were to resume Wednesday, but heavy rain forced it to cancel afternoon classes. — LBG, GMA News
