Report: Google to revive realtime search

Miss Google's Realtime Search? It may come back soon and include updates from Google+ and other social sources, a tech site reported on Thursday. Tech site Mashable quoted Google Fellow Amit Singhal as saying the Google Search team is “actively working" on bringing the service back. He said the team was experimenting with adding data from Google+ and other sources. Singhal also hinted Google+ may get its own search engine, supposedly one of the upcoming social network's most requested features. “We are on it," Singhal said. Google had discontinued its Realtime Search, which delivered data from Twitter, Facebook and social media services, after failing to reach an agreement with Twitter for continued access to the micro-blogging site. Realtime Search had made Google relevant Whenever a major current event made headlines, by displaying related tweets and Facebook updates from users. “The value the product was providing was not enough," Singhal said of the reason why the service was shut down. — TJD, GMA News
