Forum on 'sacrilegious' CCP art show ends in word war


Initially intended to start a dialogue on the controversial art exhibit allegedly insulting Christianity, a forum on Friday ended in a word war. Threats of legal action were also hurled at the people behind a series of installations on exhibit entitled “Poleteismo" or Polytheism, accordng to a report on 24 Oras. “Hindi gawa ng Pilipino ‘yan. Gawa ‘yan ng demonyo!" exclaimed one of the exhibit’s critics, Dr. Primitivo Chua, who attended the forum organized by the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP). Displayed at the CCP, Poleteismo has been criticized by a number of Catholics for being sacrilegious.

Mideo Cruz, one of the artists behind “Poleteismo", said he produced his art without ill intentions. “Hindi ko kayang kontrolin ang magiging interpretasyon ninyo sa trabaho ko," he said. “We cannot please everybody."
