PAGASA: Floods, landslides threaten parts of Mindanao

Flash floods and landslides threaten parts of Central and Eastern Mindanao even as winds associated with typhoon "Kabayan" (Muifa) threaten the seaboards of Luzon, state weather forecasters said Sunday. The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) also said the southwest monsoon is affecting the western section of Luzon. "The western section of Central and of Southern Luzon will experience monsoon rains while the rest of Luzon and Mindanao will have mostly cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms... widespread rains over Central and Eastern Mindanao which may trigger flashfloods and landslides [are expected]," PAGASA said in its 5 a.m. bulletin. It added Visayas will be partly cloudy to cloudy with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms. — LBG, GMA News
