The female police officer who staved off an attack by communist rebels in Trento, Agusan del Sur last July will lead the honorees at the 110th service anniversary rites of the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday. Senior Inspector Charity Galvez is expected to receive the PNP Medalya ng Katapangan (Bravery Medal) for leading her men at the rites at Camp Crame, the national police’s main headquarters. President Benigno Aquino III will be the guest of honor and keynote speaker at the event, Malacañang said on Sunday. A Palace statement said Aquino will also award 22 other members, employees and regional offices of the PNP for exemplary performance in the line of duty. To receive posthumous promotions on Monday are SPO2 Ricky Oman Agwit and SPO2 Jeff Domingo for dying in a landslide while doing their duty in Ifugao at the height of Tropical Storm Juaning (Nock-Ten).
